Heidi Couper

Heidi Couper Language Services is run by Heidi Couper. Heidi benefits from a bilingual upbringing in German and English and has a degree in French and German from Bristol University. She holds the IoLET Diploma in Translation.

Languages are Heidi’s passion and after graduating, she worked for several years as a linguist in international environments. Her position at the Royal Academy of Arts required her to liaise with journalists, TV and film crews from all over the world, while her jobs at PGL, OneStage and HarrisonParrott involved negotiating or operating educational and concert tours to European destinations.

Heidi’s keen interest in teaching and learning led to her completing a PGCE teaching qualification and she has 14 years’ experience of teaching modern languages in a variety of UK schools, including five years as Head of Department at a top London independent school, City of London School for Girls.

Heidi teaches young people aged between five and 18, and is on the management committee of Bristol’s German Saturday School, where she supports its teaching staff in best practice.

She enjoys teaching adults from beginners to advanced speakers and has worked with clients in a diverse range of businesses, from law firms to recruitment agencies. She spent time living in Spain, where she taught English and became proficient in Spanish.

Heidi ’s love of the written word inspired her to complete a course in translation at London’s City University. She translates or proofreads brochure copy, business websites, podcasts, CD booklets, powerpoint slides and seminar texts. As a keen musician, she particularly enjoys audio transcription.

Heidi combines all her skills and knowledge in her current work for two large examination boards. She is involved in both the production and assessment of international examinations and is excited by the prospect of forward-looking qualifications which properly equip young people for the future.
